Publishing
Posts, drafts and the queue
The overview of everything your brand has written or scheduled, what each status means, and which surface to use for what.
Posts is the overview: what exists, what state it is in, and what is coming up. It is the page to open when you want to know whether next week is covered.
The statuses
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Draft | Written, not queued. Nothing will happen to it |
| Scheduled | In the queue with a time. The worker will send it |
| Published | Sent to the platform successfully |
| Failed | The send was attempted and did not work |
A failed post is never silently dropped. It keeps its reason and it can be retried. See why a post failed to publish.
Posts versus Calendar
They are different views of the same posts, for different jobs.
Posts answers "what do I have?": it is a dashboard of counts, upcoming items and anything that needs attention.
Calendar answers "when is it going out?": it is where you drag things around, open them to edit, and retry failures.
If you are managing, use the calendar. If you are checking, use Posts.
Where posts come from
Two sources: fanning out a content plan, which produces many at once, and writing one yourself, which produces one.
Both end up in the same queue and behave identically from there.
