Connecting accounts
How to authorise a network, what disconnecting does, why tokens are refreshed for you, and what a reconnect prompt means.
Connected accounts holds one card per platform. Connecting is what turns a scheduled post into something that can actually be sent.
Connecting
Meta surfaces (Instagram, Facebook and Threads) connect through an OAuth redirect: you are sent to Meta, you grant access to the specific account or page, and you come back. Nothing about your password ever reaches TrendSuite.
Which platforms show a live connect button depends on both the integration status of the network and your plan. See platform support.
What we ask for, and why
Permissions are requested for the specific things the product does: publishing posts, reading comments on your own posts, and (where an automation is armed) sending a DM in reply to someone who contacted you first. A permission that is not needed for something you are using is not requested.
Disconnecting
Disconnecting revokes TrendSuite's access from the same card. Scheduled posts targeting that account will then fail rather than silently vanish, so disconnect after clearing or re-pointing anything queued, not before.
Tokens are refreshed for you
Platform access tokens expire. A scheduled job renews them before they lapse, so a connection made months ago keeps working without you thinking about it.
When you are asked to reconnect
A card asking for reconnection means the token could not be renewed. Usually this is one of:
- The password on the social account changed.
- Access was revoked from the platform's own settings.
- The page or account's permissions changed on the platform side.
Reconnecting is the same flow as connecting, and it does not disturb your scheduled posts. If it keeps happening, see nothing is connecting.
One brand, one set of accounts
Connected accounts belong to the brand, not to your login. Switching brands switches which accounts you are publishing to. See working with multiple brands.
